Welcome to Melkham Girls Rugby – Where Passion Meets Opportunity

Melkham Girls Rugby is a thriving joint venture between Oakham RFC and Melton Mowbray RFC, uniting girls aged 11–18 from across Leicestershire and Rutland under one inclusive and inspiring girls rugby banner. Now in our third year, this unique partnership continues to go from strength to strength, offering girls the chance to play rugby in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

With a team of fully qualified, DBS-checked coaches—many with years of playing and coaching experience—we’re proud to have helped many of our players progress to the next level. From representing Leicestershire Rugby Union to being selected for England’s Player Development Group (PDG) training squads, and now celebrating our first player in the Leicester Tigers U23 Women’s Squad, Melkham Girls Rugby is a launchpad for talent and ambition.

But we are more than just competitive rugby. At Melkham, we build confidence, friendships, and community. Our girls support events at both clubs, volunteer as Young Leaders, and are an integral part of club life. We’ve proudly won Melton’s Let’s Get Moving Awards two years in a row—for U16 Girls Junior Team of the Year and Best Junior Club of the Year.
