It’s a big week for Oakham RFC Colts, with two special training sessions followed by their first match of the 2026/27 season at home on Saturday.

Preparations begin on Tuesday 22nd September at 6.30pm, when the Colts will be joined by special guest coach Iain Simpson, Oakham School’s Head of Sports Partnerships.

Iain will be back with the squad for a second session on Thursday 24th September at 6.30pm, giving the players two excellent opportunities to work together ahead of Saturday’s opening fixture.

Come and give Colts rugby a try

The sessions are also a great opportunity for other Colts-age players to come along and get involved.

Whether you already play rugby, are returning to the game or are thinking about giving it a try, you’re very welcome to join the squad at training this week.

Oakham Colts provide the next step towards senior rugby at the club, with regular coaching, fixtures and the opportunity to develop alongside a growing group of players.

Simply come along on Tuesday or Thursday at 6.30pm and give it a go.

First match of the season

The week then culminates on Saturday 26th September, when Oakham RFC Colts welcome Syston RFC to Oakham for their first match of the new season.

There will be another first on Saturday too, with the Colts taking to the field in their brand-new Oakham RFC playing kit for the first time.
