Oakham RFC follows the RFU Safer Recruitment Process and adopt the RFU Core Values (TREDS)

Volunteers make ORFC possible and so I start by thanking you for your interest in joining the team. There is a process which must be followed to set up volunteers and a small amount of work each year to stay current and adhere to legalities and processes.

1. Volunteer & Reference Forms – these online forms should be completed and sent to the Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) (Safeguardingofficer@oakhamrfc.com) for review, once received the CSO will inform the Data Controllers for GMS and SPOND should additional levels of access be required on these platforms.
2. In completing the volunteer information, you are acknowledging and agreeing to abide by ORFC Code of Conduct.
3. Register on GMS – using this helpful user guide. Ensure your details are correct as this is matched to your DBS application, and email needs to be included.
4. Download (or access on your computer) the England Rugby Learning Platform, register indicating the role you will be taking on as this will then assign you mandatory training for your role.
5. Complete Introduction to Safeguarding training (it is a legal requirement, and the DBS application cannot progress without it), we also ask that you complete Headcase Awareness (age grade related) and Tackle Safe (for old age groups).
6. Bring CSO three forms of ID which can be found on the Gov website.
7. CSO will make the initial application – you will then be sent an email to finish the application (look out for an email from Atlantic Data).
8. You are now able to sign up to the renewal process afterwards which makes the process easier each year.

First Aiders:

You will need to book onto a training course and once complete you will be required to upload your certificate to GMS

Annually:

It is a requirement of the club that you re-complete the Volunteer Form and Introduction of Safeguarding Training annually. It is easier for you, and for our audits if this is done at the start of each season.

Oakham RFC are promoting the use of the DBS renewal service. Once your DBS is completed you will receive information on joining the update service which we strongly encourage you to complete. Otherwise, your DBS will require renewal every 3 years.
